It is known for its stunning wildflower displays, otherworldly badlands, and iconic bighorn sheep, and has been home to the Kumeyaay, Cupa, and Cahuilla people for some12,000 years.

Retreats at BILD
Step outside and see things differently.
The Biocultural Institute for Living Design (BILD) nonprofit is our live experiment in Living Design.
Sited in a historic 86-acre desert ranch adjoining Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, surrounded by open desert, mountains, dark skies, and miles of trails, BILD can host a range of Living Design retreats and workshops.

Room to reflect, wander, create—and seeing things differently.
The stunning desert and enormous dark skies
Washes and hillsides alive with seasonal wildflowers.
And the extraordinary living laboratory of the surrounding desert itself.
The aim is to provide a place where people doing meaningful, creative work can step outside their environment long enough to see things differently.
For a board or leadership team, that spaciousness matters.
A working session might be followed by a walk through the desert. A difficult question might continue over dinner. People have time to get to know each other, themselves, and their shared possibilities.
The desert isn’t just a backdrop.
It is part of the process.
Living Design retreats at BILD can be designed as half-day, full-day, or multi-day experiences, with the specific use of the ranch house, campground, pool, outdoor spaces, and other amenities. We also have light building and creative projects you could work on together.
